Tinnitus Management
Tinnitus, commonly described as ringing, buzzing, or humming in the ears—is a condition that affects millions of people. At Connect Audiology, we provide comprehensive evaluations and customized care plans to help you better understand and manage your tinnitus.
Whether your tinnitus is mild or disruptive, our goal is to help reduce its impact on your daily life. Through a combination of expert testing and treatment options, we can help you regain peace and focus. Our approach is centered on compassionate, evidence-based care. We understand that tinnitus is different for everyone, so we take the time to listen, educate, and develop a treatment strategy tailored to your needs. By addressing both the symptoms and their underlying causes, we empower you to take control of your hearing health and improve your quality of life.
What Causes Tinnitus?
Tinnitus can result from various conditions, with hearing loss being the most common. Other causes include earwax buildup, head or neck injuries, sinus pressure, TMJ disorders, and autoimmune conditions. Specific metabolic issues, like thyroid imbalances, and some medications, including antibiotics, NSAIDs, diuretics, and chemotherapy drugs, can also trigger tinnitus.
No single cause is identified in some cases, but that doesn't mean you can't find relief. A proper evaluation helps us rule out underlying issues and create a personalized care plan.
Types of Tinnitus
Tinnitus is generally divided into two main types. Subjective tinnitus is the most common and can only be heard by you. Objective tinnitus is much rarer and can sometimes be heard by a healthcare provider during an exam.
Understanding which type you have helps us choose the most effective treatment options. At Connect Audiology, we focus on accurate diagnosis to support your overall well-being.

"I have had a wonderful experience here with Dr. Sree. She is one of the kindest people I have met. I'm grateful to have met her. She is a great audiologist, as she is currently helping me block out all sound due to terrible migraines and helping my mother regain her hearing, so she's trying out hearing aids for a few days (a brilliant idea from her). It's going pretty well, considering we just found out she needed them. She is one of those doctors you love, and there is absolutely no doubt everyone will love her."

How Tinnitus Can Affect Your Life
Tinnitus can be more than just an annoyance. It interferes with sleep, focus, and emotional health for some people. It may lead to stress, anxiety, or depression, especially when it's constant or loud.
You're not alone if you're avoiding quiet environments or having trouble concentrating because of the noise in your ears. The good news is that help is available, and you don’t have to manage it alone.

Measuring Tinnitus
Your tinnitus evaluation starts with a diagnostic hearing test, since tinnitus is often linked to hearing loss. We then perform a tinnitus-specific assessment to measure the pitch and loudness of your tinnitus.
These evaluations allow us to understand how your tinnitus behaves and how it affects you personally. With this information, we can recommend the right path forward, whether that includes hearing devices, sound therapy, or other solutions.
Tinnitus Treatment
Treatment for tinnitus is based on your unique results. Sometimes, we may refer you to other healthcare professionals for additional care. However, for many people, especially those with hearing loss, hearing aids are highly effective.
Hearing aids improve overall hearing and provide sound stimulation that can help “mask” or reduce the perception of tinnitus. Over time, many people report that their tinnitus becomes less noticeable and less frustrating.
Hearing Aids with Tinnitus Masking
Some hearing aids are specially designed with tinnitus-masking features. These devices can play soft background sounds or customized tones that blend with the tinnitus, making it less intrusive.
Your audiologist will guide you through selecting the right technology based on your hearing profile and tinnitus experience. This targeted support helps you regain control and enjoy greater comfort throughout your day.

"I needed a hearing test to renew a commercial license. I called and had an appointment the next day. The office was clean and neat and the audiologist was very professional and explained the testing process. The test took about a 1/2 hour and was very thorough. When the test was concluded she explained the results and treatment options. No high pressure sales pitch for hearing aids or additional visits. As an older adult I feel the exam and test was beneficial to know the condition of my hearing health."
